Hospice of Comfort is a Medicare certified, non-profit organization and is a service of Regional Medical Center.  Hospice provides in-home caring support for individuals and families experiencing advanced stages of a terminal illness.  The mission of Hospice is to enhance quality of life for terminally ill individuals and their families by providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support before, during, and following the individual's death.



Qualifications for Care

  • Must be certified as terminally ill by your physician
  • Focus of care has changed from cure to comfort
  • Have a desire for Hospice care
  • Referrals may be made by any interested person


Staff & Services

All of the following services are provided with the approval of the patient's physician and the Hospice Team.

  • Registered Nurses provide skilled nursing care and are on-call 24-hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Home Care Aides assist with personal cares and other tasks.
  • Social Workers help the client and their family cope with the financial and emotional stresses of illness.
  • Spiritual Coordinators provide and assist with the coordination of spiritual counseling.
  • Physical, occupational & speech therapy, pharmacy, and dietary consults are available.
  • Volunteers become trusted companions and friends.
  • Massage therapy by a licensed massage therapist is available.
  • Bereavement Counselors and Volunteers help family and friends cope with grieving.


Cost

  • Hospice services are billed to Medicare, Medicaid, Veteran's Administration, or private insurance
  • No patient is denied service due to inability to pay
  • Hospice of Comfort accepts donations and memorials

Hospice Volunteers

Volunteers receive special training and contribute their individual skills for the benefit of Hospice clients and their families by providing respite for caregivers, offering a listening ear and caring heart, running errands, performing housekeeping and child care, and providing support to families during the time of bereavement.
