Visiting A Patient

General Visiting Policy

Most patients enjoy having visitors and they may even aid in the patient's recovery.  Please remember that the patient's well-being is our primary concern at all times.

General visiting hours are from 11:00 AM - 8:30 PM, but may be modified for each patient and each situation.  Please read the more detailed policies below.

  • Anyone with respiratory disease or signs of communicable infection will NOT be permitted to visit.
  • Visitors must not interfere with the activities of the professional staff.
  • Visitors should not bring food to the patients unless specially advised to do so.
  • Visitors should not congregate in patient care areas.
  • Visitors must not sit on patient's beds.
  • No one shall be allowed to visit patients in the hospital without wearing shoes and shirts.
  • Facilities and materials for protecting visitors from infected patients should be supervised and controlled by nursing staff.
  • In the event of communicable disease outbreaks, ALL visitation may be restricted.
  • Smoking is not allowed at any location.
  • Quiet should be maintained.


Obstetrics and Family Health Policy

  • The husband or support person of the patient may visit at any time during the patient's hospitalization.
  • Well siblings may visit with the mother and new baby in the patient's room.
  • Other family members, close friends, and clergy may visit during normal visiting hours, preferabley 2 or 3 visitors at one time.
  • Children other than siblings should be over the age of 8 to visit the patient room.  Parents are responsible for their child's conduct while in the room.
  • Visitors may be asked to leave the room to allow for feeding time, as well as rest time for mother and infant.


Medical / Surgical Floor Policy

  • In the interest of better patient rest, 2 visitors shall be permitted to visit a patient at any one time.
  • Children under the age of 14 will be permitted to visit if they do not have cold or flu symptoms, and have not been exposed to a  communicable disease.  Children will not be allowed to visit if the patient has a communicable disease.
  • Nursing staff reserves the right to remove visitation privileges per individual patient situation.


Surgical / Recovery Room Policy

  • Non-professional visitors are not allowed in the Operating Room.
  • Casual professional visitors are not allowed in the Operating Room unless under strict control.
  • Recovery Room visitors are limited to immediate family only and at the discretion of the nursing staff.
