Serving Since 2003

As an active member of her community and a long-time resident of Delaware County, it was easy for Kay Harris to say yes to fill an unexpired term on the hospital board.  Her largest surprise was how much is taken for granted, she never realized what all is involved in operating a hospital until being on the board.

Our community depends on our doctors and the hospital for their healthcare needs.  Kay wants to ensure those expectations are met.

Kay has served as the Secretary/Treasurer of the family business Harris Electrical, Inc. for the past 45 years.  Her active community life includes serving her 20th year as a member of the Maquoketa Valley School Board, as well as 20 years on the Hopkinton HOPE committee, coordinating the food pantry in Hopkinton, and working with her daughter taking care of Operation Christmas.  In addition, Kay has been a member of Monticello Camp Fire for 44 years and also serves on the Camp Fire Board.  She is involved in her church serving as President of the United Methodist Women, is on the Mission Council, and is the Secretary/Treasurer of the Miriam Circle.

Kay recently joined the Greater Delaware County Foundation.  In addition, she serves on the Backbone Area Counseling Center Advisory Board and is a member of the Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and the Delaware County Historical Society.

Kay and her husband, Richard, have three children, seven grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.  Kay enjoys her family and watching them in their activities at Maquoketa Valley School, Camp Fire, Boy Scouts, and Little League.  Kay says “There is never a dull moment in a busy life.”
